Rev Mary Katherine Dombek is an ordained Unity Minister. In 1996 she completed her Licensed Unity Teacher training, and later completed a specialization in Youth Education. In the fall of 1999, she and her husband David moved to Kansas City where she began working on the phones at Silent Unity. There she prayed with over 35,000 callers. She completed Unity’s ministerial education program and was ordained in June of 2003.
While she was in ministerial school, Mary Katherine found a love for the history of Unity, and in particular, Myrtle Fillmore. Mary Katherine as “Myrtle” made several appearances on the grounds of Unity Village during her time there. "Myrtle" has also visited Atlanta Unity Church in Georgia, Unity Center of Miami Florida, Unity of Hollywood Florida, Unity of Fort Pierce Florida, Unity Church of the Crossroads in Strongsville Ohio and Unity Center for Transformation in Mentor Ohio. Myrtle and Mary Katherine share some common history, both are native Ohioans, were trained as teachers, married printers, and are adventurous pioneers. Mary Katherine also discovered her gift for photography. She teamed this with her graphics design skills and has produced note cards and artwork that are sold in several Unity bookstores.
During the past 4 years, Mary Katherine has completed several trainings in Nonviolent Communications. She and classmate, Rev Brian Walker facilitated 2 ongoing NVC practice groups at Unity Village. Mary Katherine provided NVC training for her co-workers at Silent Unity, 3 Ministerial Education Classes, the Gold Coast Unity Minister's Association, Unity’s Southeastern Region Licensed Unity Teachers, Unity of Hollywood, Unity of Fort Pierce and Unity of Port St Lucie.
Mary Katherine is the mother of four. While her children were in preschool, she founded a Montessori School in Ohio. In her life before ministry she completed her bachelor’s degree in Psychology, a teaching certificate in Secondary Education Social Studies, a master’s degree in Outdoor Education and one in Physical Education at the University of Akron. During the completion of her second master’s degree she became the university’s first Aquatic Director. There she taught swimming, boating, and water aerobics in addition to managing the University’s recreational facilities, which included 9 racquetball courts, 2 weight rooms, and swimming pool. She served as administrative manager for the National Safe Boating council, a national non-profit organization.
Mary Katherine and her husband David moved to Florida when he received a transfer by
his work. David sells & designs kitchens. They both love living in Florida, where they have been enjoying the ocean and entertaining visiting family members.
